Top 10 of the Top 10s 2009
NME and Clash Magazine's albums of 09 are the latest to be added
to the ADM definitive year-end reckoning.
And while it seems nothing short of a major revolution is going
to dislodge Animal Collective from the top slot, it's good news for
Grizzly Bear, the Fuck Buttons and Wild Beasts, who all head in a
northerly direction, while the Yeah Yeah Yeahs consolidate their
hold on the runners-up place.
And into the reckoning for the first time come The Big Pink,
Jamie T, HEALTH, Noah and The Whale and Andy Weatherall (who could
also claim to be represented higher in the rankings as the Fuck
Buttons' producer).
We'll revisit the chart as the rest of the mags report on their
2009 favourites.
Comparing the Best Of the Best Ofs with the AnyDecentMusic
scores below, there is definitely a more familiar look to the
year-end ratings. One major anomaly is Madness, who scored well at
the review stage with The Liberty Of Norton Folgate, but it barely
scrapes into the Best Of list.
