Cosmic Egg stands outside of times and cultures and societies, a fortress in the clouds at the wispy fringes of credulity

Reads like a who’s who of hard rock, with nods to Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and Hendrix.

The riffs are recycled at times however and it lacks the vital urgency of their debut, but for all the hard rockers out there, Cosmic Egg is an enjoyable way to see out the end of the year

...whilst Andrew Stockdale is the only original member left, something like ‘10,000 Feet’ is such a splendid Zep derivative it hardly matters who’s hammering the strings

There's no shame in harking back in rock time, but if you're going to plunder the land of hot licks, best follow the lead of the White Stripes than, say, Jet.

You could argue Wolfmother’s ballsy and carefree hi-octane music is all just innocent fun, ideally washed down with a six pack of tinnies. Yet it’s utterly devoid of soul and intelligence.
