Mumford & Sons: Banjo unchained
Five things we learned at ADM Towers this week
Michael Palmer reflects on the week's action in the ADM chart and makes a promise he can't keep

Mumford & Sons Do A Dylan
Marcus Mumford won't be played by Cate Blanchett in any film
adaptations, and that is a shame. In fact, it's hard to picture any
female actor with the chops to pull off that role. Best answer in
the comments gets a prize. (That's real - there's a real prize).
Anyway, Mumford and his sons have gone electric! And while old Bob
caused quite a stir back in 1965, over here in 2015 nobody seems
all that impressed with the new M&S outlook. It is their best
rating yet though, with their debut getting a 6.1 and the follow-up
only mustering a 5.6. Maybe the fault lay with that banjo all
along?

Django Django's New Album Is Like A Tarantino
Movie
It's like Reservoir Dogs: there's a Mexican Standoff. Joe, the
boss, is the high ratings. The Arts Desk, The Skinny, The Music.
Charismatic and persuasive. Mr White is mid-range reviews. The 8s.
Reasoned but generally positive. Nice Guy Eddie is the low ratings.
Q, Uncut. Brash and carefree. If just one of them pulls the trigger
they all die, but what--wait a minute, actually. Hold on. I think I
might be doing the wrong Tarantino movie.

There's Space At The Top
Now that Kendrick's six weeks at the top of the chart are up, and
with Sufjan's time also running short, there's a chance for a new
entry to actually top our chart for the first time in ages. This
week though, no new contenders seemed that keen on making their
mark. Bassekou Kouyaté And Ngoni Ba's latest offering was our
highest new album this week, but still a few big scores away from a
prospective top spot. The other new entries range from respectable
to disappointing. There's about to be an ADM power vacuum, and we
might need to wait until next week to see what new albums can fill
it.

A Bad Week For Hip-Hop
Wu Tang Clan member Raekwon suffered the indignity of receiving
this week's lowest rating for a new album, and Atlanta's Young Thug
took home the prize for the lowest review score this week, a 3 from
Beardfood. Not a good week for new hip-hop. It's been a rough
month, actually. With a whole bunch of high profile releases, now
that Kendrick's time as a "new release" is up, only Earl Sweatshirt
sits on the front page of our Current Chart.
And don't worry Young Fathers, we're not including
you.
